Operation Baking Gals - Round 8 Sign Up!

It's time for round 8 of Operation Baking GALS!

We've got a great young soldier this round. Her name is Steffanie. She's from Indiana, and has known that she wanted to serve in the military since she was 14! She is very accomplished already, even in the short amount of time she has been serving our country, and is looking forward to 18 or more years serving as a nurse for the military.

The teams have been submitted, and I am a team leader again for this round, and any future rounds. My team name is "Amanda's Team Orange." If you are interested in joining, you may either reply to this post, and I'll help you get set up with our soldier's information, or you can go to www.bakinggals.com and register as a user. From there, you can go to "Join a Round 8 Team" and find "Amanda's Team Orange," and everything else that you need to know for this shipping round will be posted there.

If you need my help, please don't hesitate to ask!

I'm so excited! I hope you all take this into consideration!

30 Day Shred - Workout 3

Well that was much better. Workout 3 was much better than the first two. So at least when we're going through the rotation, we have something good to look forward to after workout 2.

This is going to be a very busy week though, so I'm not sure how many more of these we're going to be able to get in. I'll keep the updates coming though.

30 Day Shred - Workout 2

Yikes!

I don't know if it's because I am so sore from yesterday, but workout 2 is so much harder than the first one. The exercises are much more intense, and it seems like the pace is much faster. I know that I'm going to be dreading that one for the rest of the 30 days, that's for sure.

However, I can already feel a difference in my body and my level of energy. I feel more awake, and refreshed, and my self confidence is definitely up. The only downfall to getting back into exercising though, is that I find that I'm much more hungry. That's not necessarily a good thing because I'm trying to watch what I eat and work out to lose weight, but it does mean that I'm burning calories, and I need to replenish my system. So, as long as I am eating the right things, and getting the proper amounts of vitamins, proteins, fats, and carbohydrates in my body, I should start seeing some results.

30 Day Shred - Workout 1

Brutal. Absolutely brutal. Wow.

You'd think that being a college athlete, I would be alright with something like this little workout DVD. But after not having done much of anything in the last three years, my body is hating me right now. My arms are and my legs are so sore that I can't lift my arms above my head, and it hurts to sit down and stand up. I'm really hoping that today's workout will loosen everything up again, and make moving around a bit easier.

We're doing the workouts a bit differently though. The program says to start on workout 1, and do that for 10 days straight, then go on to workout 2 for 10 days, then workout 3 for 10 days. We decided that we're going to rotate through each of them, and then repeat. So basically, we'll be doing workout 1 every three days...I think you can understand that, right? We're doing this because I feel like I'd get bored watching the same part of the DVD for 10 days straight, and then it wouldn't make me want to work out. So we'll see how this goes.

I've also been trying to count calories, and amount of fat I consume in a day. I've found a great site that helps you do it: The Daily Plate. It allows you to actually look up brand names and find the exact nutritional information. We'll see how this goes over the next few weeks.

30 Day Shred

So Dylan and I decided that we needed to start working out again. So I got a copy of Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. It's a DVD of three different workouts that you are supposed to do everyday for 30 days. Apparently, the results are supposed to be pretty amazing. The best part for me though, is that each workout is only 20 minutes! That's right, 20 minutes, which is perfect because I hate having to put an hour or so aside to work out.

So, we are going to start this, and every now and then you'll see a post about our progress. I may even post measurements at the end, based on the outcome.

Happy Easter!

It totally does not feel like Easter. We're in NYC still, leaving tomorrow, but today we decided to take a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and then go down to a famous pizza place. Well, since it doesn't feel like Easter, we didn't even think that the pizza place would be closed for the holiday, but guess what...they were. So we walked back over the Brooklyn Bridge back to Manhattan, and then to Chinatown, where we had lunch at a Chinese/Shanghai place.

And to make it feel more like its not Easter, we just got finished eating dinner - Pizza that we ordered in from an Amish Market. The NYC lifestyle sure is different!
